More WWE Talent Reportedly Sick, GLOW Star Passes Away, Aro Lucha

Enzo Amore had to miss Raw this week because of a sudden bout with the flu. He has since been removed from the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge series. Enzo’s illness came right after Braun Strowman returned to the ring after also missing a few shows due to the flu. Wrestling Inc. has reported that there are actually a few stars on the Smackdown roster who are currently sick. It is unknown if they are also dealing with the flu, but the report mentions that several of those wrestlers had IVs and even had to miss out on New Year’s Eve celebrations due to their illnesses. None of the reportedly ill superstars were named in the report.
One of the biggest surprises of 2017 was the debut of the comedy series GLOW on Netflix, which is a comedy series set around the 80s wrestling promotion of the same name. Unfortunately, one of the original promotion’s biggest stars has passed away. It was revealed recently that Mountain Fiji has died at the age of 60. Patricia Summerland (aka the Sunny the California Girl) tweeted out her condolences to Fiji shortly after her passing. Fiji also appeared in the documentary GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling back in 2012, and the Machu Picchu character in the Netflix series is reportedly based on Fiji as well.

Aro Lucha is still a brand new promotion, but progress is being made as far as turning it into one of the most exciting Lucha Libre promotions in the world is concerned. Some of pro wrestling’s biggest stars are booked to appear on upcoming shows, including Carlito, Low Ki, James Storm, and Rey Mysterio. The new company also taped a pilot for TV in Nashville, Tennessee not too long ago. Just a few weeks later, the promotion has officially signed their first exclusive roster member. Aro Lucha CEO Jason Brown recently tweeted out that Sammy Guevara has signed the first exclusive and multi-year deal in Aro Lucha history.

No Dejes De Luchar! Happy to announce the signing of our fist exclusive, multi year talent @sammyguevara, Sammy Guevara. @Konnan5150 has the best eye in the business for young talent. 2018 Onward and Upwards! #arolucha
