At a much-anticipated event in Washington, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and 16 Democratic co-sponsors are introducing the 2017 Medicare for All Act, which aims to “revolutionize” American healthcare by replacing the current for-profit system with a single-payer program that would provide insurance to all Americans as a right.

“When an idea catches fire, when people see the justice of that idea, it moves very, very quickly,” Sanders wrote on Facebook ahead of Wednesday’s event. “As we work to create a country where healthcare is a right to all, remember: the momentum is on our side.”
