In a new interview with ESPN West Palm, Matt and Nick Jackson (Young Bucks) discussed the possibility of AEW working with NJPW following rumors that the two companies were close to a collaboration. Nick Jackson reveals that the noise has indeed just been rumors, and at the time there doesn’t seem to be anything lined up for the two promotions.
Yeah that was just a rumor…nothing’s happening. I think [Jericho] just did that to get the internet to talk a little bit more about the situation, but the door has not opened up at all. We wish them luck in what they are doing because like Matt said with NXT, a lot of our friends work in New Japan. Most of them are our friends; we have friends everywhere in the wrestling world. If something came along then we would be open, but nothing is happening right now.

During last night’s Dynamite, world champion Chris Jericho did reference NJPW by congratulating Jon Moxley on his Tokyo Dome victories, an accolade Jericho can also celebrate as he won his high-stakes bout against Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi. To add intrigue into the match, Jericho would have offered Tanahashi an AEW title shot had he won, something that even the NJPW commentary team acknowledged.
