Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton announced for WWE Raw

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is set to face off with a familiar rival on Monday’s episode of Raw.

WWE has announced that McIntyre will face Randy Orton in a non-title match on Raw this Monday. McIntyre addressing Sheamus’ attack from last week is also set for the show.

McIntyre and Orton feuded over the WWE Championship last year, including Orton winning the title from McIntyre at Hell in a Cell in October but losing it back on Raw three weeks later.

McIntyre vs. Orton was supposed to headline last month’s January 11 edition of Raw, but the match didn’t take place due to McIntyre testing positive for COVID-19. Orton instead faced Triple H in a fight that ended with Alexa Bliss throwing a fireball at Orton.

Sheamus turned against McIntyre on last week’s Raw by laying him out with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus then did an interview where he said he isn’t friends with McIntyre anymore and wants the WWE Championship. McIntyre responded to Sheamus later in the show and accepted his challenge for a title match. When Sheamus will be getting his title shot has yet to be announced.

Orton lost to Edge in the main event of last week’s Raw after a distraction from Bliss. Bliss appeared on the top rope near the end of the match and had black liquid coming out of her mouth.

McIntyre retained his WWE Championship against Goldberg at the Royal Rumble last Sunday. Men’s Royal Rumble winner Edge has yet to announce which title he’ll be challenging for at WrestleMania 37, but it’s expected that he’ll face Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
