With a win in last night’s main event, Daniel Bryan getting another Universal Championship shot was made official.
Bryan defeated Jey Uso in a steel cage match on SmackDown last night. Universal Champion Roman Reigns watched on as his cousin Uso tapped out to Bryan’s Yes Lock at the end of the match. Uso had reached the ropes, but Bryan didn’t have to break the hold due to it being a steel cage match.
With Reigns still looking on, Bryan celebrated on top of the cage to close last night’s show.
As a stipulation of Bryan defeating Uso, Bryan will challenge for Reigns’ Universal Championship at Fastlane on Sunday, March 21. Last night’s match also had a stipulation where — if Bryan lost — he would have had to acknowledge Reigns as the tribal chief, the head of the table, and the greatest wrestler on the planet.
Bryan also got a Universal Championship shot against Reigns at last month’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Bryan won SmackDown’s Elimination Chamber match but then had to immediately face Reigns. Reigns broke out of the Yes Lock and then quickly got the win, making Bryan pass out in a guillotine.
The winner of Reigns vs. Bryan at Fastlane will go on to defend the Universal Championship against Edge at WrestleMania 37.
