Daniel Bryan Calls AJ Styles A Masochist, Claims He Is ‘Above’ Working A Full-Time Schedule

Daniel Bryan shocked the pro wrestling world when he turned heel on AJ Styles and became the new WWE champion. The Phenomenal One had held the title for over a year and had become the top workhorse on SmackDown Live.

But while Bryan’s character found a new direction, AJ found a new purpose. Styles is set on regaining his championship and he made that known on the November 27 edition of SmackDown Live. AJ also happened to mention Bryan and compared Daniel’s title reign to that of Universal champion Brock Lesnar.

The comparison drew a definite response from the crowd, who was surely wondering why the newly crowned champ wasn’t on hand for the show. But much like Lesnar, Daniel wasn’t around, which means he couldn’t answer any of AJ’s claims. But the WWE champion did respond on Twitter.

Daniel’s words were that of a heel, as he alluded to the fact that he no longer needs to work all that hard in the ring. Indeed, his new character is much cockier and more arrogant that anything WWE fans have seen from him before.

The old Daniel Bryan wrestled 227 matches in a calendar year, much more than AJ has ever done in his career. Shortly thereafter he needed neck surgery. The New Daniel Bryan is above that sort of masochism. https://t.co/F0BLWGRsf8

Bryan and Styles will once again go to war, this time at TLC on December 16. Bryan’s WWE Championship will be on the line and it’s obvious that there’s still more story left to be told between the two. Whether or not AJ will reagin the title is unknown. But Daniel’s just getting started with his heel character so he may very well remain the WWE champion for the foreseeable future.
