Alberto el Patron released a statement this afternoon announcing that he will no longer be appearing at AAA TripleMania XXVI this Saturday evening, where he was scheduled and advertised to compete against a mystery opponent.
In his statement, Patron claimed that he was unhappy with the terms agreed upon for his appearance. He also noted that a deal was never formally reached with AAA owner Dorian Roldán, evident by the promotion failing to pay his deposit ahead of time. The former WWE Champion also stated that he was working on “new projects” that he would reveal “in a few weeks”, roughly translated.

TripleMania has been AAA’s biggest annual event since 1993, and this year returns to Mexico City Arena for the seventh consecutive year. The main event will see Pentagon Jr., LA Park, El Hijo del Fantasma and Psycho Clown face off in a unique steel cage match. After the first two men escape the ring, the remaining two will battle it out in a battle for their masks!
Jeff Jarrett will also be defending the AAA Mega Championship in another fatal 4-way match against three Impact Wrestling superstars: Rey Fenix, Rich Swann and X-Division Champion Brian Cage.
If you’re interested in watching TripleMania XXVI this Saturday evening, the show kicks off on the official Lucha Libre AAA Twitch channel at 9PM ET featuring English commentary from Lucha Underground duo Matt Striker and Vampiro.
