As noted, Rey Mysterio has signed a new deal with WWE and will be returning to the company in the very near future. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, despite WWE wanting the big pop for Mysterio at the upcoming Saudi Arabia show, it appears as if Mysterio’s return is currently penciled in for Smackdown 1,000 later this month.

WWE is stacking the deck for the upcoming Smackdown 1,000 episode, having announced Batista will be returning for the show to reunite with Evolution, and several top matches have been announced for the event:

Regarding Rey Mysterio, some within the company wanted a “surprise pop” for the Australia stadium show coming up on Saturday, however I’m hearing his return is more likely to happen in 2 weeks at SmackDown 1000. Mysterio was a staple of SD in the early days. Makes sense.
