YES, YOU DID read that headline correctly.
Zindeine Zidane rounded up some of his France 98 World Cup winning teammates last night for a charity half-and-half match against Toulon at Stade Felix Mayol, with Toulon’s head coach Bernard Laporte standing in as referee.
The sides played 45 minutes of soccer, followed by 45 minutes of rugby, with Toulon winning on a scoreline of 33-26, the footballers leading 3-6 at half-time.
The highlight for everybody though was this great try from Zinedine Zidane, skirting through the middle of the Toulon defence, before giving Delon Armitage the eyes to go in under the posts.
Granted, the tackling was questionable, but a pretty decent line from Zizou all the same.
