Nice have tonight announced the signing of young attacking midfielder Badredine Bouanani from Lille, the 17-year-old signing his first professional contract with Les Aiglons.
Foot Mercato had reported before the end of the season that the club were also facing competition from Lyon and Bordeaux for his signing, but that talks led to Bouanani reaching an agreement to join last year’s 5th-placed Ligue 1 side.
Bouanani’s contract with his hometown club, who he joined at the age of 7, was due to expire at the end of the season. He had yet to appear for the first team with Les Dogues, instead being a regular of the U19 side, but has gone straight into the professional team at the Côte d’Azur side and will be coached directly by Lucien Favre.
He recently won gold at the Mediterranean games with the French U18 team, and has a total of 16 caps with France’s youth team’s so far.
