Having been released at the end of his contract at Schalke after their relegation from the Bundesliga last season, Algerian international and former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder is on the verge of finding a new club.

According to Foot Mercato, the 26-year-old player is in advanced negotiations with Ligue 1 side Angers. The two parties are close to finding an agreement for the free agent to join Ligue 1’s surprise package this campaign.

As well as 35 caps for Algeria to date, Bentaleb played 107 games for Schalke in all competitions, scoring 19 times and adding nine assists.
