Remember that questionable leather and latex photo shoot that Kim Kardashian West forced her sisters to do back in 2015? Though the sisters might be posing in sexy outfits for any number of reasons at any given time, that one had a particular purpose that might surprise you: It was meant to be their family Christmas card that year.
When a user on Twitter reached out to Kim Kardashian West to ask what came of the photos from that edgy shoot, Kim admitted that she had big plans to mail it out to all of her nearest and dearest in the spirit of holiday cheer. “This was going to be our Christmas card with the whole family but we went with the all kids pic instead. U will find this and post it on my app,” Kim said about the photo shoot.

Another user then asked what inspired the 37-year-old reality star to go for the gothic theme in the first place. “Not sure but it was too gothic for Christmas. It was my idea but then didn’t work out for a Christmas card,” Kardashian West replied.
This isn’t the first time Kim has opened up about the photo shoot. We first learned about it in a behind-the-scenes video posted to Khloe Kardashian’s website, where Kim gave some insight on how the cards come together even when it’s tough to get the family in one place. “With all of our crazy schedules it’s so hard to get everyone together for a group photo,” Kim said in the video. “So this year we glammed together and shot some together, but mostly separate.”
Even though it was a challenge, Kim was able to successfully get all of her sisters, including Kendall and Kylie, and her mom, Kris Jenner, on set for the shoot. “I wanted to get all the sisters together and my mom to do a photo shoot and they’re all fighting me today because they all have the day off. But I’m forcing this,” Kim said.

The family all dressed up in similar sexy outfits–clad in leather, latex, and studs–and donned the same hairstyle of short bangs and soft waves. They also wore a deep purple lip and smokey eye makeup to add to the overall gothic vibe. Although it didn’t make for a good Christmas card, at least the family had some quality time together and now have these photos to look back on.
