Demi Lovato has long been a body-positive activist. Since becoming a champion of mental health awareness, and overcoming her own eating disorder and substance abuse issues with five years of sobriety now under her belt, the singer has become the unofficial celebrity spokesperson for loving yourself unapologetically. So naturally, when Demi got a couple of new swimsuits, she decided to show off the body-baring looks on Instagram, proving she’s never not cool for the summer.

In the first selfie she posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Lovato wears a very low-cut turquoise one-piece with a crochet halter top and a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses with reflective yellow lenses. She captioned the shot, “So ready for summer ☀️??,” although considering she lives in Los Angeles, one could argue that it’s never really not summer in a city where February temperatures typically hover around a relatively balmy sixty degrees.

She then went on to share another snap of herself later that day wearing the same cleavage-baring suit, this time posting a fully body mirror selfie of the suit with her sunglasses flipped up on her head to show that she already  has an enviable bronzed glow two months ahead of the official start of the season, captioning the picture simply, “Why not? ?” After all, what’s wrong with being confident?
