Huma Abedin Arrives at CFDA Awards Red Carpet Without Her Wedding Ring

Huma Abedin looked fierce in fuchsia on Monday as she hit the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

The 40-year-old mother, who was vice chair of Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 presidential campaign, walked the carpet at the prestigious, star-studded fashion event wearing a long-sleeve, button-down, floor-length silk flowing gown featuring a gathered knot at its waist.

Abedin accessorized the look with oversized gold earrings and a coordinating statement gold sapphire ring. She kept her long brown hair down, curly and parted to her side, and her makeup simple, with a red lip and a touch of mascara.

One thing noticeably missing? Her wedding ring from estranged husband Anthony Weiner. Abedin announced she was separating from the 52-year-old former New York congressman in August, just hours after his third sexting scandal came to light. She filed for divorce Weiner on May 19, a source confirmed to PEOPLE — the same day he pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor.

According to the New York Post, which first reported the separation, Abedin filed an “anonymous versus anonymous” action in Manhattan Supreme Court and is asking the court to seal the case. The Post reported that the filing is uncontested, which means she is not expecting a fight over custody of the couple’s son, Jordan, or the couple’s assets.

Weiner admitted in federal court to sending sexually explicit messages and photos to a 15-year-old girl, PEOPLE confirmed. He pleaded guilty to a single count of transferring obscene material to a minor.

Weiner was released on bail and will be sentenced on Sept. 8. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
