Nicole Kidman Stuns on Two Red Carpets—in Two Different Countries—in Less Than 24 Hours

Nicole Kidman just gave us a serious dose of fashion whiplash—and we mean that in the best way possible. Less than 24 hours after stunning in New York City at the CFDA ceremony, she appeared on the red carpet in London for Glamour UK’s Women of the Year awards. Surprising exactly no one, she looked incredibly chic (and somehow, well-rested) at the British event, opting for a lilac lace Erdem dress straight from the Fall 2017 runway. She kept her hair loose and flowing to match the ethereal vibe and chose a beautiful shade of purple for her lips as well to give the whole thing a monochromatic spin.

Meanwhile, last night in New York City, Kidman donned an Oscar de la Renta look with pops of pink around her neck and on her lips. A quick change like that takes a lot of planning, and Kidman has stylist Julia von Boehm to thank for keeping all the sartorial trains running on time. “I prepare everything up to the tiniest little detail in advance,” von Boehm told Vanity Fair. “Then it requires an enormous amount of logistics to assure everything arrives.”

Naturally, having so many looks right after one another puts a lot of pressure on the stylist to make sure they all shine. “You can’t really go up and down [in terms of wow factor],” she shared. “You have to always keep or build on that same level.” Cue the Cannes Film Festival this year, when Kidman was promoting four different movies, so you can imagine the prep work involved. von Boehm explained she has binders full of “look” sheets, each page including a photo of Kidman from the fitting, as well as the shoes, the jewelry and the clutch to go with it. Luckily, Kidman makes the job a little bit easier. “She can really wear anything,” von Boehm says. “She gets a little chilly easily and likes to be covered, so I really like her in long sleeves…A very deep, plunging neckline works perfectly on her because she has a beautiful chest. We also lean toward silhouettes that are tight on her shape. We like to accentuate the waist usually, because she has a tiny waist. Lengthwise, a lot of different lengths work on her.”

Lately, Kidman has been earning nothing but praise for her glam back-to-back styles, but von Boehm explains that regardless of the feedback, each look is a win. “I’m always proud,” she shared. “But it’s especially great to see when we take a risk and people respond well to it.”
