With International Women’s Day approaching (March 8th), Net-A-Porter (a female-founded business itself), has set out on a mission to celebrate and empower women by partnering with WomenForWomen, an organization that helps female survivors living in war zones around the world rebuild their lives.
The brand collaborated with five of-the-moment designers (Stella McCartney, Chloé, Rosie Assoulin, Ganni, Bella Freud and Off-White) to design a collection of t-shirts, from which 100% of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to WomenForWomen. It’s no wonder Nicole Kidman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Dakota Fanning and Viola Davis have all been spotted already sporting their tees with pride.
Follow their lead and shop these tees below, because who doesn’t want to look good and do good? Empowering women is a very stylish thing to do.
Nicole Kidman in Chloé
Inspiration from the designer: “Recognizing both the universality and individuality of women was behind much of what I wanted to say with my first collection at Chloé. This is what drew me to using a Cycladic totem of femininity, a symbol dating back more than four millenniums yet still timeless, as a pendant necklace. I wanted to translate this message for International Women’s Day, repeating this symbol in gold thread on the pocket with a matching metallic ring piercing through the sleeve. Together these details represent the life-giving force within all women.”
Tracee Ellis Ross in Stella McCartney
Dakota Fanning in Ganni
Inspiration from the designer: “All the amazing girls and women who show the way forward and won’t be pigeonholed or held back by their gender” As serious as the issue of feminism and equality is, I also wanted to add a bit of humor and fun, and say, hey of course we’re on top of things.”
Viola Davis in Bella Freud
Inspiration from the designer: “Love is inclusive, it unites us. Love opens our hearts and minds to go beyond our limitations.”
