ALLENTOWN, PA — Ten people were hurt in a shooting outside an Allentown nightclub early Thursday, police said. No one died in the shooting, Allentown Police Capt. Bill Lake told Patch on Thursday.
All were reportedly expected to survive. It happened around 2 a.m. near Deja Vu nightclub, which had reportedly been the scene of violence in the past, according to the Allentown Morning Call. Many or all of the people shot were reportedly standing on a sidewalk outside the club.
Dozens of first responders converged on the scene for several hours, WFMZ-TV reported.
U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, who represents the state’s 7th district, tweeted Thursday that she was “horrified.”
“Horrified at the news of a shooting in Allentown overnight,” wrote Wild. “Thankfully, there have been no fatalities. I’m keeping a close eye on the situation and praying for the victims in the hospital.”
The nightclub is located near Hamilton Street and North Race Street, about a block south of the Allentown Bus Terminal.
Information on who was firing and what led up to the gunfire wasn’t immediately known.
