Austin Aries appeared on this week’s edition of Talk is Jericho where the pair covered a vast range of topics, including why the cruiserweight left WWE.
Despite plenty of speculation about his reasoning, Aries did confirm that he did not ask for his release, and squashed a few rumors about his departure.
Below are some highlights from the interview with Chris Jericho, with a h/t to Sportskeeda.com for the transcription.
On the WWE WrestleMania 33 DVD Speculation
“There’s a tweet I put out, that garnered some headlines, telling everyone that the Wrestlemania 33 DVD was available in Canada on Blu-Ray, unfortunately, one of the best matches of the night was left off the DVD. And so people took that and made it into ‘one of the reasons Austin Aries left is because he was mad his match wasn’t on the DVD’”
Why He Was Released From WWE
“Long story short, and I can’t speak to stuff that I’ve read, or people have read because those things weren’t brought to me personally and I don’t like to deal with speculation. So just, plain and simple, I was told that they had nothing for me creatively.”
Bludgeon Brothers Revert Back To Old Gimmick
Throughout the WWE European tour, the Bludgeon Brothers (Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) have debuted their new gimmick to live audiences, with new ring gear and theme music.
However, during WWE’s recent show in Leeds, England, the duo came out in their old Wyatt Family attire and used Luke Harper’s old entrance music, as shown by WWE fan, Gareth Smith.
