Away’s New Collaboration With Gray Malin Lines Its Luggage With Travel Photography

Away, every modern traveler’s go-to luggage company, is back once again with a killer collaboration.

The lightweight, hard shell suitcase brand already comes complete with enough interior compartments to satisfy the most organized traveler, a laundry bag, and built-in USB chargers, but now it also comes in three gorgeous new prints and colors thanks to the work of photographer Gray Malin.

Malin has made a name for himself in both the travel and photography worlds thanks to his dreamy aerial photos of far-flung places around the globe. His work, which has spanned six continents, is the perfect inspiration-inducing travel porn you may need to pack up for your next adventure.

“Traveling is synonymous with my own lifestyle as well as the Gray Malin brand. In fact, our brand motto is Make Every Day a Getaway. Therefore to be able to create a collection with Away of suitcases that are both expertly designed and easy on the eyes was a no brainer to me,” Malin told Forbes. “Our process was very collaborative as there was already quite a bit of natural synergy between the two brands.”

In total Malin and Away settled on three colors for their collaborative line: Coral, Ocean Blue, and Alpine White. Each of the bags also comes with a special lining printed with one of Malin’s own photographs.

“The real show happens when the suitcase opens,” Malin added.

Coral, for example, comes lined with a shot of sunbathers at Bondi Beach, while Ocean is paired with a group of paddleboarders along the coast of Rio de Janeiro and Alpine is lined with — what else? — skiers carving down the slopes at Whistler.

And it appears Away is thrilled with the collaboration’s outcome.

“Working with Gray has been an amazing experience,” Jen Rubio, creative director and co-founder of Away, told Forbes. “His photographs capture some of the most aspirational elements of travel, so the partnership was a natural fit.”

This, of course, isn’t Away’s first high-profile collaboration. In August the company announced a capsule collection in collaboration with actress Rashida Jones. In June the company also revealed a specially designed piece just for Minion lovers in collaboration with “Despicable Me,” which, let’s be honest, is the coolest character luggage you could ever see coming around baggage claim.
