Speaking in an interview with Canal Football Club, Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva discussed the club’s recent loss to Lyon, Monaco’s current form, Benjamin Mendy and much more.
On Lyon’s surprise victory over Manchester City:
Fékir is a player I know very well, a player that people in France know very well. The defensive midfielder, I cannot remember his name, N’Dombélé, he was a very strong player. Aouar, also a very good player.
On his French:
I speak everyday with Benjamin (Mendy), Vincent (Kompany), (Eliaquim) Mangala, Kevin (De Bruyne), Riyad (Mahrez).
On Benjamin Mendy:
He annoys me a lot but I think today he is a bit sad because I nutmegged him in training. We are friends, he is a very good person.
On Monaco’s poor form:
Of course, I always want them to win. I had incredible times at Monaco. It is a different team now. When I arrived we had young players but we also had players who were experienced. It is easier when there is a mix. I think they have good quality, but they are young, they need time… For fans, it is annoying to always see your players leave. In France, it is not always easy to keep your players, because the players are always going to want to try different things.
Ben is here, Fabi is playing at Liverpool, Bakayoko was at Chelsea, now at AC Milan, Lemar at Atletico. We said that if we kept the team together as it was at Monaco for 2 or 3 years we always said that we could win the Champions’ League.
On Kylian Mbappé:
Nobody knew that he was going to do what has done as quickly as he has done it. From the first training session with him, you could see how he touched the ball, how he went past defenders. You could see he was a different player. His first important match as against Manchester City, I think people will remember that game. He won the World Cup, he was maybe the best French player. I don’t think he will win the Ballon D’Or this year, but in a few years. I think it will be either Modric or Cristiano.
