The Velveteen Dream is the new NXT North American champion. The title changed hands on the February 20 edition of NXT, where Dream defeated Johnny Gargano.

This match was pre-taped of course and two different finishes happened, evidently to leave fans wondering which direction the company would take. That direction became clear when The Dream hit two Dream Valley Drivers and The Purple Rainmaker to get the win.

Gargano is hot on the heels of his main roster appearances on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live. While it’s unknown which brand he will join, the door definitely seems to be open for him to leave NXT behind.

But that move has not yet been announced. It could be that Johnny Wrestling will continue to bounce back and forth between all three brands, though that has not been confirmed by WWE.The same is true of Tommaso Ciampa, Ricochet and Aleister Black, who also appeared with Gargano on both Monday and Tuesday.
