Although the PSG academy product remains “part of the project” at the Parc des Princes, he is not indispensable and is free to leave should the club receive a “good proposal.”

However, for now, there is a significant difference between the two clubs’ valuation of the player. PSG are asking for between €60/65m. Chelsea are prepared to submit a proposal between €45/50m.

Kimpembe is currently on the club’s tour of Japan, and the French international defender does prioritise a stay at the Ligue 1 champions. He is hoping to have discussions with the club’s hierarchy about his future, amidst rumours that he is free to leave a club where he has made 200 appearances since breaking into the first-team.

The deal is currently a “work in progress.” Chelsea have already bought Kalidou Koulibaly (31), whilst according to Romano, the club have also re-engaged in discussions with Sevilla over Jules Koundé (23).
