UFC has announced that CM Punk vs Mike Jackson, taking place at UFC 225 on June 9th in Chicago, will open the main card of the PPV.
Following the announcement of Punk’s placement on the card, which will see Holly Holm headline the prelims, there was some fan backlash on social media. One name in particular, UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman, came to the defense of Punk, offering the former WWE Champion good luck in his sophomore UFC fight.

It’s a damn shame that @CMPunk keeps getting put on cards when they’re is such an abundance of more deserving and qualified fighters available that would kill for the chance

Sometimes u have to make exceptions.$ I’m excited for this fight . I wish @CMPunk the best! But I understand.

I understand too. If it was up to me, I’d be first fight on fight pass. Don’t matter to me. Fans like to be outraged by stuff that doesn’t matter. (Appreciate the support Mr. Coleman!!!!! You’re truly the man)
