Police busted the man who tried to rape an elderly Queens woman in her apartment during a terrifying home invasion earlier in the week, authorities said Saturday.

Rodrigo Escamilla, 27, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. Thursday after an anonymous person recognized his image and notified cops, police said.

Escamilla was hit with a slew of charges for allegedly pushing his way into the 74-year-old woman’s North Corona home around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim told authorities she had just returned home and had stepped out of the shower when she heard a knock at the door of her apartment on 38th Avenue near 108th Street, cops said.

When she opened the door, Escamilla barged in, bashed her in the head with a glass bottle and knocked her to the ground.

He then forced her into a bedroom, where he tried to sexually assault her before fleeing, cops said.

Police later released a video of Escamilla allegedly following the septuagenarian into the building and loitering in the lobby shortly before the attack.

Escamilla, who lives less than a mile away from the crime scene, was charged Thursday with attempted rape, assault, strangulation, sexually motivated burglary, predatory sexual assault, criminal sex act, sexual abuse and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

This is his first brush with the law.
