Thus far, those within WWE have been completely silent about their apprehension towards the extremely controversial Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. Everything stated publicly has been overwhelmingly positive, until jack-of-all-trades announcer Corey Graves offered a toast to the “freedom of expression” and women’s rights on Instagram this weekend.
As you’ve probably heard, there’s been a lot of discussion about the ethics of WWE taking money from the Saudi Arabian government to run what is essentially a large multi-million dollar propaganda piece. Especially for a country where women barely have the rights of a second class citizen, and expressing anything negative about the government or its policies is strictly prohibited. Graves stated, “A drink to remember that no matter how bad WE think we have it, at least our women have rights and we all have freedom of expression.”
