Dustin Rhodes Talks Starrcade, NJPW’s English Channel, Cornette

Goldust was nowhere to be found during last night’s Starrcade live event in North Carolina. Instead, he wrestled as “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes as a tribute to his father Dusty Rhodes, the creator of the initial Starrcade event in WCW. Rhodes defeated Dash Wilder at the event and later spoke with WWE.com about what it was like to see the event come back. Rhodes got emotional when talking about his late father and he vowed that he, along with his brother Cody Rhodes, will continue to do all that they can to uphold the legacy set by the Rhodes family. Feel free to check out the match and full interview with Dustin Rhodes down below:

New Japan Pro Wrestling has been a top wrestling promotion in Japan for several decades now, however, it’s no secret that the company’s mission as of late has been to reach American audiences. With the creation of the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship, as well as live events held in the country, and also the upcoming match between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12, NJPW is working hard to compete in the US with WWE. The promotion has now launched their very own YouTube channel in English. The first video posted to the channel features Kenny Omega welcoming fans to the brand new channel.

Jim Cornette is one of the most legendary managers and personalities in the professional wrestling business. Whether he’s starting fights at conventions with Santino Marella or exposing himself during live shows, Cornette has been in the news several times this year. Cornette’s managing career could be over though since he announced that his appearance alongside Dan Severn at Wrestlecade last night would be the last time he serves as a manager. Severn defeated Josh Woods, and after the match, Cornette took a mic and announced his retirement once again. He thanked the fans in attendance and said that he was happy to retire in the Carolinas.
