New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced the first three competitors in the upcoming 2019 Super J Cup tournament, and among them is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
TJ Perkins, who is currently working for Impact Wrestling, has been confirmed for the inter-brand single elimination tournament set to unfold over three days this August, all taking place in the United States.
This will be TJP’s first appearance for NJPW since competing in the 2011 Best of the Super Juniors tournament, locking up with the likes of Kenny Omega, Finn Balor and Tiger Mask, among others.
Also announced for the tournament is former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dragon Lee, who also works frequently with CMLL and Ring of Honor, as well as SHO, one half of three-time IWGP Tag Team Champions Roppongi 3K.
The 2019 Super J Cup takes place on August 22nd at the Temple Theater in Tacoma, Washington, August 24th at San Francisco State University, and wrapping up August 25th with a return to the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Cali. For more information check out NJPW1972.com.
