AS Monaco winger Gelson Martins risks receiving up to a 6 month suspension per LFP regulations after pushing the referee on two occasions last night as ASM lost away to Nîmes in Ligue 1.o
Martins pushed the referee in the first instance after his team-mate Tiémoué Bakayoko was red carded for what the referee viewed to be a reckless stamp on Romain Philippoteaux. Martins was then red carded himself, at which point he decided to push the referee again.
The LFP disciplinary committee will meet on Wednesday to decide Martins’ fate, but we can expect a minimum suspension of 8 matches, a maximum ban of 6 months.
