ACROSS AMERICA — Jordan Glover grabbed the leg of his opponent from Enfield High School in Rock Grove, Connecticut, took him down and covered him as the referee slapped the mat, signifying a pinfall victory for the Rocky Hill wrestler on Senior Night Wednesday.
The opponent, junior Noah Bonini, did not lament his loss, but rather celebrated the fact he was able to help provide a memorable final home appearance for Glover, who has Down syndrome. Grapplers from both teams pounded on the mat throughout the contest, demonstrating genuine enthusiasm in the spirit of the moment.
Tim Jensen, editor of Enfield Patch in Connecticut, told the story this week of how members from the Enfield and Rocky Hill wrestling teams came together to create a memorable night for one of their own.
