A great white shark came so close to a fisherman’s boat in Massachusetts this week that it nearly took a chomp out of it, “epic” new video shows.

Matt Riley was lobstering with his friends in Cape Cod Bay when the shark came closer and closer to their vessel, video posted to his Instagram page around noon Tuesday shows.

“He’s coming right up to the boat!” someone on board says, before the massive creature bumps right into it, mouth first.

“The most epic thing I’ve ever witnessed on the water,” Riley captioned the video.

The shark’s target wasn’t the boat after all — but a humpback whale carcass nearby, CBS Boston reported.

“Great white sharks up to 20 feet in length feeding on a dead whale in Cape Cod Bay,” Riley wrote.
