As previously noted, WWE came to terms on the release of Smackdown Live personality James Ellsworth this week.
Ellsworth debuted in June 2016 as a jobber to Braun Strowman in what was supposed to be a one-off appearance, but was brought back to television after the praise and fan support he received in his squash match against the “Monster Among Men”. He even had a brief program and WWE Championship match against AJ Styles at one point, and has been working with Ms. Money in the Bank, Carmella, ever since.
Matt Hardy took to Twitter this afternoon to praise the comments made by Ellsworth, after news broke of his release.
“Classy statement. Be very proud of what you accomplished, Pretty Jimmy. Very few performers get to live the WWE dream. Chin up (figuratively), strong, keep moving forward. Seeya down the road, pal.”
Dolph Ziggler on the other hand, had a very different (likely in-character) approach to the news of his fellow Smackdown star leaving the company.
“everyones favorite underdog, quietly & humbly lived his dream on tv, gave others hope, did what was asked, made friends along the way & almost became WORLD CHAMP? Gross! You are what is wrong with pro wrestling @realellsworth

And finally, before riding off into the sunset Ellsworth himself got one last comedic jab in via Twitter, this time about his former Smackdown Live partner Carmella.
