Jonathan David: “I don’t know if I can see myself anywhere other than the Premier League.”

Speaking in an interview with La Voix du Nord, Canadian international and 22-year-old Lille attacker Jonathan David admitted that he eventually sees himself away from the French outfit and was asked specifically about the Premier League.

“I don’t know, I think it’s possible, very possible. I don’t know if I can see myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League.”

David is under contract with Les Dogues until June 2025 but is fully expected to depart the northern French side before the end of 2023. He also discussed Lille’s all-time top scorer record – which is held by Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard – standing at 50 goals. David is currently on 41 goals.

“I know Eden Hazard has scored 50 goals. I’m not very far (41 goals) so it’s something I want to beat, that’s for sure. Being a club’s top scorer is always a good thing. You remain in the history of the club.”
