MIDDLETOWN, RI — A man accused former White House press secretary Sean Spicer of using a racial slur towards him when the two attended a Catholic prep school together in Rhode Island. The man made the accusation at a book signing in Middletown Friday for Spicer’s book “The Briefing.”

The incident was caught on video by The Newport Daily News.

In the video, the man calls out Spicer’s name and the former press secretary responds “hey” and waves back at the man.

“I was a day student at Abbey too with you,” the man, who the Daily News identified as Alex Lombard, says.

“Yes, how are you?” Spicer says.

“Remember? Yeah? You don’t remember you tried to fight me?” Lombard asks. People can be heard laughing in the video before Lombard says, “No, but you called me a (racial slur) first, right? Remember? Remember?”

“You called me a (racial slur) first Sean,” he says.

Immediately, two people, including a security guard, are seen approaching the man as he continues to speak. “Get him out of here,” “send him out of here,” “he should be arrested immediately,” people in the crowd are heard saying as the man is escorted out.

“I was 14, I was a scared kid then Sean, I’m not scared to fight you now,” Lombard says.

“Get out of here loser,” a woman is heard yelling.

According to The Providence Journal, Lombard now lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is a Newport native. He graduated Portsmouth Abbey School in 1990 and Spicer graduated from the same school in 1989, according to the Journal.

Spicer’s publicist told The Associated Press that Spicer was “taken aback” by the man’s “outrageous claim” and had no recollection of him or of being in school with him.

Spicer’s book was published this month and his book along with the tour have not been going well. In a scathing review by Jonathan Karl, the chief White House correspondent for ABC News, the book is described as being much like his tenure as press secretary, “short, littered with inaccuracies and offering up one consistent theme: Mr. Trump can do no wrong.”

Earlier this week, Spicer was called a “piece of garbage” during an interview at a book store in New York City.
