It’s easy to forget during the royal wedding hype that at one point, bride-to-be Meghan Markle was a Northwestern University student in Evanston, Ill. with dreams of acting.
Markle herself hasn’t seemed to forget though, and she showed it when she made a surprise visit to Chicago this week and repped a favorite sports team along the way. Photos have emerged of Markle wearing a Chicago White Sox cap at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday.

Sources have told the Chicago Tribune that she’ll be in town through Sunday evening. TMZ claims that her visit has to do with immigration business and visa application plans. WGN Chicago only corroborated that report.

“Eyewitnesses tell us Meghan attempted to be as incognito as possible—with 4 bodyguards in tow—when she entered the VFS Global U.K. Visa Application Center Thursday in Chicago,” they said. “We’re told she was there to finalize her application for a U.K. visa.”
Due to the way it’s regulated, she won’t be able to apply for permanent U.K. citizenship for another six months. In that time though, she’ll be happily married to Prince Harry.
