Millie Bobby Brown Is Already a Red Carpet Pro at 13

Millie Bobby Brown is having just about the best year any pre-teen in Hollywood has had since Anna Paquin won the Oscar at age 11. Not only was she the breakout star in the hugely successful Netflix show Stranger Things which instantly catapulted her to international stardom, meaning the youth suddenly found herself walking the red carpet at every major award show, hobnobbing with A-list celebs, but on Sunday night she also picked up a golden popcorn for Best Actor at the MTV Movie & TV Awards to add to her SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. But while it’s her acting chops that initially caught the eye of the masses, it’s her endless parade of pitch perfect gowns that keep everyone totally enchanted by this high fashion superstar in the making.

And her turn at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night was no exception, wearing a Calvin Klein by Appointment white sequin embroidered long sleeve t-shirt dress that she paired with white western boots, a yellow gold diamond open bezel ring and yellow gold diamond bar ring from Jennifer Meyer Jewelry, and the accessory du jour, a bright blue ACLU ribbon that she pinned on inside the ceremony. Wunderkind that she is, we wouldn’t be all that surprised to find out that Millie just so happened to also be a style savant in addition to her thespian prowess, but the truth is the woman behind those flawless ensembles is in fact masterful stylist to the stars, Karla Welch.

Welch is the woman behind a number of your favorite actresses’ beautiful gowns, from Sarah Paulson and Elisabeth Moss‘ Old Hollywood style to Ruth Negga and Tracee Ellis Ross‘s edgier sensibility. The stylist is also known for giving her clients a slightly political bent as of late, regularly pinning her ladies with that same ACLU ribbon, putting them in feminist slogan t-shirts, and being unapologetically outspoken about her beliefs on her own Instagram account. She’s also the one responsible for this Giorgio Armani moment at the SAG Awards, dressing Millie to match the carpet she walked in on in a candy apple red column gown with a ruched neckline, lace cap sleeves, and a crimson rope belt knotted at her waist, all finished off with a delicate bejeweled Jennifer Behr headband and an Edie Parker clutch covered in hearts.

But that wasn’t the actress’s first head-turning appearance at an awards ceremony, attending the Golden Globes before that in a glittering silver Jenny Packham cocktail dress.

And before that, wowing at the Emmys in a black ankle-length gown with a tulle skirt and sheer polka dot sleeves with sequined birds scattered all over.

And, of course, with style this on point combined with all of the industry buzz at the moment, it was only a matter of moments before Brown landed a fashion campaign of her own, scoring a coveted slot as the face of Calvin Klein by Appointment under the new leadership of Raf Simons.
