In speaking in the mixed zone following Brazil’s 3-0 win over Ghana during the international break, PSG forward Neymar sidestepped questions over the current state of his relationship with fellow Paris forward Kylian Mbappé.

When asked by a reporter: “What is your relationship with Mbappé?” the 30-year-old attacker replied: “I don’t understand?” The question was then repeated: “What is your relationship with Mbappé now?” A frustrated looking Neymar dismissed the topic, saying: “Pfft, I don’t want to answer,” before swiftly exiting the mixed zone.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, of their current understanding, Mbappé diplomatically said: “We have always had a relationship based on respect, but we’ve always had hotter and colder moments. There are periods where, as you see, we are the best friends in the world and other periods where we speak less. It’s the nature of our relationship, but there is a lot of respect.”

Signs of another “penaltygate” emerged at PSG in August as Neymar’s liked tweets appear to show tension with Mbappé following reports that Mbappé had asked for Neymar to be sold during the transfer window.
