The orangutan who was shot with 74 airgun pellets is slowly recovering now, an official informed. The 30-year-old female was found severely wounded in Aceh province last Sunday. The official received a tipoff from the villagers and found orangutan in critical condition with her baby who is amonth old under a jackfruit tree inside a villager’s plantation.

“The orangutans came to a villager’s plantation and they were considered as threats by the owner who then attempted to expel the animals,” said Sapto Aji Prabowo, chief of Aceh Conservation Agency.
