Paul Jones Passes Away, WWE Files Restraining Order, Riott Squad

It was reported yesterday that legendary professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino passed away earlier this week. Sammartino was undoubtedly one of the greatest icons in the history of wrestling, but unfortunately, another competitor from the past has just passed away. The Mid-Atlatnic Gateway has recently reported that Al “Paul Jones” Frederick died in Atlanta, Georgia last night at the age of 76. Jones was best known for his run in Jim Crockett Promotions’ Mid-Atlantic Wrestling in the 1970s, which is where he became a Mid-Atlantic champion. Details on Jones’ death remain unknown at this moment, but WWE commented on his passing by remembering his career and by extending their condolences to the Jones family.

WWE has just filed a restraining order against a fan that the company has had numerous issues with over the past few years. TMZ reported earlier today that WWE has filed a restraining order against Alejandro Montalvo, a fan who has threatened Performance Center talent, smeared his feces on the wall, and has been arrested numerous times in the past in addition to several other acts in the past. Montalvo was also shot and arrested outside of the WWE Performance Center back in 2015. His father has claimed that his son suffers from borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia in the past. It is believed that a recent threat from Montalvo on social media pushed WWE to get the restraining order.

During the Superstar Shakeup, teams from WWE’s women’s divisions switched shows with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose of Absolution moved to Smackdown, and with The Riott Squad’s Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, and Ruby Riott switched over to the Raw brand. According to the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the move means that the members of The Riott Squad are in line for a pretty significant push. With Alexa Bliss currently seen as the only dominant heel on Raw, it seems like WWE will attempt to build up Riott, Morgan, and Logan more in order to have them fill the voids left by Raw’s previous heels like Deville and Rose. The Riott Squad arrived on Raw earlier this week by attacking fan-favorites Sasha Banks and Bayley.
