Pilates knockoff is for fitness fiends who like sweat and torture

Welcome to reform school. The Megaformer, a souped-up riff on the pilates reformer machine with a sliding carriage and springs for resistance training, is taking over NYC. The low-impact, high-sweat megaformer workout uses slow, controlled movements, usually with heavy resistance, to work the core and create long, lean muscle tone.

Here, a look at the hot workout classes reforming the streets.

SLT

The OG megaformer studio’s 50-minute class uses quick transitions and snails-pace motions for a muscle-shaking workout. The machine has a grid with numbers on top to help show you where you’re supposed to be (think Twister 2.0) and focuses on using maximum effort in both directions, which makes the push and pull equally challenging. Although there are already 13 New York-area locations, Amanda Freeman, SLT’s founder, tells The Post that they are actively looking at signing two new leases before 2020. $36-to-$40 for a single class

Solidcore

The clubby 50-minute workout, conducted in the dark, features high-energy instructors and low and slow movements on the springs to work your muscles to the limit faster. Their medieval-looking contraption called the “sweatlana” has boxes and numbers on the mat to make the class easier to follow, but expect plenty of crunches, twists and arm work. They’ll even surprise you with some dumbbells. There are currently four city locations and Anne Mahlum, CEO and founder, tells The Post that they are looking at a whopping 30 deals right now in the New York area including Queens, Long Island and New Jersey. $40 for a single class

Bodyrok

Looking to limit your time on the torture rack? Bodyrok, with two locations in NYC (so far), is the fastest class of them all, with just 40 minutes of core-burning planks, crunches and pikes. (Don’t worry, you’ll be sweating after five minutes.) The neon-lit studios are clearly targeting the social-media set, but the new, aluminum machines are the sleekest-looking of the bunch — and the only machines without numbers or a grid on the mat. $36 for a single class
