Despite going 1-0 down early in the match following a goal scored by Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé, Juventus stayed compact defensively, which led them to survive for the rest of the first half with just one goal conceded.

Before the halftime whistle, Leonardo Bonucci restored parity, equalising through a good finish from a close range. However, PSG came roaring back into the game in the second half. And despite the resistance from the Bianconeri defence, Nuno Mendes grabbed the most crucial goal of the night, securing the three points for the visitors against a formidable opponent on Wednesday evening.

Following the encounter, PSG manager Christophe Galtier revealed how the halftime talks from the manager had changed the momentum for the travelling side. As quoted by L’Équipe, the former Ligue 1 champion with Lille said, 

“We had a lot of pressure and not enough mobility in the first half. We continued our positional play and that favoured the Italian side. I asked for more movement but also to be more vertical. Kylian was often in a one-on-one situation. We could have found him more often in the deep. I think it was better after the break.”
