Rowan and Harper have been a dominant tag team ever since the two of them returned to WWE as The Bludgeon Brothers several months ago. The duo have defeated just about every team on the SmackDown roster, and they have held onto the SmackDown Tag Team Championships ever since the won the titles at WrestleMania earlier this year. However, PWInsider has now reported that Rowan has just received an injury. Rowan reportedly injured his bicep during his tag team match with Harper against The New Day at SummerSlam earlier in the week. Rowan did not appear on last night’s WWE live event in Atlantic City, but he was instead having his injury evaluated by WWE’s team of doctors.
The drama in Dolph Ziggler’s WWE contract negotiations continue with the former World Heavyweight Champion’s current WWE deal set to expire shortly. According to Joseph Peisich on Barn Burner’s ‘No Holds Barred’ podcast, Ziggler was offered a new deal by WWE prior to the start of the SummerSlam pay-per-view from this past Sunday night. The main card for the event began with Ziggler losing the Intercontinental Championship to Seth Rollins, which may have been done by WWE as a result of Ziggler’s possible departure. Dolph Ziggler could be leaving WWE within the next few months, but he will still continue to compete on Raw each Monday night while he decides his next move in wrestling.
Last night’s episode of Raw had to follow up WWE’s SummerSlam event from the previous night. The show featured some huge matches such as Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Champion, but tonight, the SmackDown roster will be closing out the week-long festivities from WWE in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. During Raw last night, an advertisement for tonight’s SmackDown show revealed that Randy Orton will face Jeff Hardy at last. Although a No Disqualification match had been set between The New Day and The Bludgeon Brothers, that could be called off due to Rowan’s recent injury. AJ Styles and Becky Lynch will also be appearing on the show tonight to address their actions from SummerSlam.
