The ‘Cats’ movie looks absolutely terrifying

Warning: This two-minute clip will haunt your “Memory.”

The trailer for “Cats” dropped Thursday — a day earlier than Universal Studios had announced — giving viewers a first glimpse at the film’s many A-list actors as freaky, human-feline hybrids.

Taylor Swift is making “memories” on the set of “Cats.”…

The cast — including Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and James Corden — looks a lot like the Spandex-clad Broadway company of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical during the 1980s and ‘90s, with just a splash of “Avatar.”

Cat-men and cat-women come off a bit more disturbing when they grand-jete around realistic London streets and bedrooms, as they do in director Tom Hooper’s film, especially with the familiar mugs of T-Swift and Rebel Wilson. The spooky trailer is scored by Hudson belting the show’s most famous song, “Memory,” orchestrated like it’s from the soundtrack of “The Shining.”

Many on Twitter had an allergic reaction to the surprise trailer, but Sir Ian McKellen, who plays Gus the Theater Cat, wants you to give “Cats” a chance.

“From comments on the “Behind the Scenes” preview of @catsmovie I posted this morning,” he wrote on Twitter, “most of you are looking forward to it, many are curious, and others have their doubts.”

Nobody is doubting that “Cats” will be the year’s weirdest film.
