Better be nice to your Uber driver and keep those stars up.
Beginning Wednesday, the ride-hailing app will start to boot the worst of its boorish riders off the platform.

“Respect is a two-way street, and so is accountability,” Kate Parker, Uber’s head of safety brand and initiatives wrote in a blog post Tuesday. “While we expect only a small number of riders to ultimately be impacted by ratings-based deactivations, it’s the right thing to do.”
Parker said Uber wants to hold its riders accountable just as it does its drivers, who can face deactivation if their rating falls below a 4.6. Riders’ accounts won’t be deactivated immediately after they dip “significantly below” the average, as they will be given a chance to redeem their ratings, according to Parker.
To keep those ratings up, Parker suggested riders avoid leaving trash in their Uber and asking the driver to speed.
Users will be prompted to the new standards once they log onto the app, and the company plans to roll out an education plan to inform its users, according to the post.
