A US Open ball boy was left confused after Venus Williams requested a coffee but then went off for a bathroom break.

The ball boy retrieved the coffee from the stands and tried to give it to Williams, but hesitated when she went down the tunnel. The ball boy stopped briefly, unsure what to do, before he started to run with the coffee. He then reversed course back toward the players’ chairs and placed the coffee next to Williams’ seat.

Williams, who fell in straight sets Wednesday to Elina Svitolina in the second round, clearly had no patience for questions about whether she normally drinks coffee during matches.

“Yeah, I did do that, huh? I did that, didn’t I?” Williams, 39, said in a snarky response.

Asked whether she’s drunk coffee before during matches or in practice, Williams said, “I did drink coffee, huh? Very observant. You guys, can’t pull anything on you, huh?”

A member of the PR staff then ended Williams’ press conference, and Williams got up and walked off with a smirk.
