As we head into 2019 and the annual WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, one stipulation the company seems to be heavily promoting is the long-time clause that allows a Rumble winner to choose which championship they challenge for in the main event of WrestleMania, regardless of which brand they belong to.
This isn’t exactly a new concept, as WWE has teased its stars changing brands in the past in order to set up potential world title rivalries, although no one has ever actually made the jump.
In 2018 with the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, they even made a point that Asuka, the winner, would have to choose between Charlotte Flair (Smackdown Live) and Alexa Bliss (RAW) as the two champions at that time. However, this was the first time in many years that the concept had been addressed, and it was not publicized prior to the Rumble pay-per-view itself.

We are still four weeks away from the 2019 Royal Rumble, but WWE is already heavily promoting the stipulation that the “winner faces [the]champion of her/his choosing at WrestleMania” on all of their graphics, and commentary has not been shy in reminding the viewers at home as well.
There has been a lot of talk about Becky Lynch challenging Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 for the RAW Women’s Championship, which would seem to imply that The Man would have to win the Rumble match and become the first person to ever actually switch brands.
