OPENING SEGMENT

Daniel Bryan kicks off the show backstage, ripping the fans for using plastic cups and buying tons of merchandise, throwing the cups and food at various people in the audience. Bryan then makes his way down to the ring to call each member of the WWE Universe weak and submissive but he is stopped by R-Truth who attacks him.

DANIEL BRYAN vs R-TRUTH

A simple, routine victory for the WWE Champion despite R-Truth’s best efforts with Bryan picking up another victory to kick off SmackDown Live tonight.

Just as Daniel Bryan tried to go to the back the former WWE Champion, AJ Styles appeared from behind the Gorilla Position and continued his new aggressive side by attacking Bryan with a chair until he ran away.

REY MYSTERIO & MUSTAFA ALI vs SAMOA JOE & ANDRADE “CIEN ALMAS

Entertaining tag team match, as is expected with four talents as skilled as these. Samoa Joe spent the early exchanges totally dominating the former 205 Live star until Rey Mysterio tagged in to get the upper hand which led to an excellent bit of work between him and Andrade Cien Almas. In the end, the babyfaces hit both of their finishers onto Samoa Joe, but Almas caught Mysterio and dropped him with the Hammerlock DDT for a major win.

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT

The Miz was then backstage asking why The Usos are getting a shot at a possible title opportunity, telling Shane he should abuse his McMahon status. Shane said they won’t do that and instead they will earn it and that they need to train.

RUSEV PROMO

Rusev talks about what happened to Lana last week, stating he stands before the WWE Universe as a husband, saying that Shinsuke Nakamura took it too far, calling him out and promising to crush him. However, Nakamura showed up in the WWE production truck as the former champion showed footage from last week, blaming Rusev for the situation.

Rusev then stormed to the back looking for the truck but Nakamura is there ready to attack him and once again he gets the upper hand, standing tall over Rusev as they are separated until Nakamura runs back and hits a Kinshasa.

THE USOS vs THE BAR

The Usos have a shot at becoming the number one contenders with a victory in this match and the brothers start off strong heading into the first ad break, keeping in control of the match. All four men put on a fantastic tag team match and it seems that The Usos have it wrapped up until Mandy Rose appears in a towel.

Rose asks Jimmy if her ring gear was left at his hotel and the distraction is enough to allow The Bar to pick up a win.

Following the match, The Miz makes his way to the ring to challenge The Bar to a Tag Team Championship Match at the Royal Rumble against him and Shane McMahon. The champions take out Miz and then accept. After that backstage, Naomi and Mandy Rose got into yet another brawl. Following that, Shane McMahon accepted the Royal Rumble match.

#1 CONTENDERS MATCH-CHARLOTTE FLAIR vs BECKY LYNCH vs CARMELLA

The match starts out with all three women getting different moments to shine, with Becky Lynch immediately taking control, only for Carmella to almost force Charlotte Flair into tapping out, whilst Charlotte Flair heads us into the break with a double moonsault.

Back from the advert and the main event continues as Carmella rag dolls Becky Lynch from the top rope, something she then does to Charlotte only for her to kick out. Just as Charlotte seemed to have things won with a Figure Four, Lynch flew out of the sky with a leg drop to end the submission. Lynch then locked in the Dis-Arm-Her but Carmella broke things up this time around.

With Flair back in to break up the new fight with a huge spear, it ends up being Charlotte who is thrown out of the ring as Lynch locks in the submission to become the new number one contender as Carmella taps out.

Winner: Becky Lynch
