John Cena returned to the ring for the first time since SummerSlam as part of a six-man tag team match following WWE SmackDown at Madison Square Garden.
As was the case for most of his pre-SummerSlam house show run, Cena teamed with Rey and Dominik Mysterio against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the Usos. After avoiding a Reigns spear attempt, Cena picked up the win after hitting one of the Usos with the AA for the pin. This is expected to be his final match for some time.
That wasn’t the only post-show dark match as Drew McIntyre defeated Happy Corbin by disqualification after Corbin hit him with a chair while they were outside the ring. After the match, McIntyre got the chair and nailed Corbin with it several times before hitting Corbin with the claymore kick.
Prior to SmackDown, WWE Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley by submission with the Figure 8.

After SmackDown went off the air, Finn Balor and Reigns continued their face-off before he and the Usos eventually backed away and left the ring. Corbin then came out and also stared down Balor. After Corbin backed down and left the ring, Balor gave him two sling blades on the floor.
According to WrestleTix, the show was a complete sellout with over 13,000 tickets distributed.
