The most tantalizing prospect of the last decade has officially arrived.
The Pelicans confirmed what most have assumed for months, selecting Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night.
Williamson has long been a lock for the selection. Combined with a sensational freshman season at Duke, Williamson’s 6-foot-7, 285 pound frame made him one of the most exciting prospects ever.
The Grizzlies selected Ja Morant with the No. 2 overall pick. After trading away star Mike Conley on Wednesday, the Murray State star will arrive in Memphis as the presumptive next franchise point guard.
