On July 3, Andheri railway bridge collapse exposed the poor maintenance of railway footbridges in Mumbai. It injured a woman severely, who later died in the hospital. Within a week, another bridge in Ghatkopar station had to be closed after cracks were found.
A day after the Andheri bridge collapse, the bridge on Grant Road was closed after cracks were noticed. It was opened later after inspection.
“This bridge is 40-50 years old and the condition of the bridge has been like this for the last four to five years,” residents in Ghatkopar told NDTV.
