Dolph Ziggler successfully defeated Bobby Roode and Baron Corbin last Sunday at Clash of Champions to become the new WWE United States Champion, but fans were left wondering about his future with the company after the “Show Off” mysterious walked out on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, leaving the title laying in the middle of the ring.
PWInsider.com is now reporting that, according to WWE officials, Ziggler will be off television for the foreseeable future to sell whatever angle they are working. That being said, he is still being advertised for upcoming Smackdown brand live events so he isn’t going away completely.

WWE still has five more weeks of television before their next pay-per-view, the co-branded Royal Rumble on January 28th. This gives them the freedom to play around with some lengthy storylines ideas, such as taking Ziggler off television or slow-playing the feud between Woken Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt on Raw. At this point it’s unknown when Ziggler will return to Smackdown, or if the company has plans to crown a new U.S. Champion in the interim, but we’ll keep you posted.
